Quite possibly one of the more stunning games of the year. Davidson was picked to win the Southern Conference and NIU is, well, they're not terrible, but you get the idea.
Davidson could've had the final possession as NIU clung to a one-point lead but a turnover was forced with eight seconds left, free throws were made, and that iced the game. Natecia Augusta and Amanda Corral both had 16 points for the Huskies, with Corral adding nine rebounds. Freshman Jenna Thorp scored 10 points and hauled in seven boards. The difference in the game was basically shooting: NIU shot 56 percent to Davidson's 34.
Next up for NIU is South Dakota State on Wednesday at home.
