What a good win by Ball State to start things off, but at the same time what a setback by Miami. It was a close game all night, but the puzzler here is that Ball State won this game thanks to second chance points (20 offensive rebounds) and they're one of the worst rebounding teams in the country, let alone the MAC. It's not like it's a weak spot for Miami, although now we have to wonder.
Ball State freshman Nathalie Fontaine a tremendous game: 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Brittany Carter used a bombardment of threes to score 15 points. Katie Murphy had a total of SEVEN offensive rebounds.
Miami got a nice game from Kirsten Olowinski (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Haley Robinson (15 points), and Courtney Osborn had a mixed night, scoring 17 points on 5-19 shooting. But losing to a three-win team is not what they had in mind.
