CMU knocks of one-loss Toledo 73-66

Central Michigan women's basketball finally solved the Savage Puzzle. Their first win at Toledo since 2006 was most impressive in that the lead changed 11 times with nine ties, and in a hostile crowd of 4,000 fans, CMU stayed composed and won this one like a veteran team should.

This is why the Chippewas played a tough but winnable schedule. To beat teams like Toledo. And clearly it worked.

True to their identity, CMU was consistently hitting baskets all night, making over 50 percent of their shots from the floor in each half. Crystal Bradford was the real breadwinner with 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Jessica Green, Jessica Schroll and Niki DiGuilio all had double-figure points.

It's not like UT played all that bad. Inma Zanoguera had a wonderful night of 19 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. I'd call that a career night. Lecretia Smith, Yolanda Richardon and Naama Shafir all had respectable numbers, but CMU played just a bit better. By six points, in fact. And as a result, it's just their second loss of the season. CMU may be 7-7 but they played like the ones with just a single loss.
