Toledo Women Shoot 25.7%, Lose at Buffalo 51-46

The Toledo Rockets continue to commit sins against the art of basketball and let a late lead slip away at Buffalo.

It's officially difficult to watch the Toledo Rocket's play basketball.

The Rockets shot an absolutely abysmal 19-74 tonight in Buffalo and somehow still managed to have a two point lead with 2:03 to play in the game. Buffalo then went on a 9-2 run to close out the come from behind win at home.

There is little to be excited by in this game's box score if you are a Toledo fan. The Rockets out rebounded their opponents by a wide margin, 51-40, but that is the kind of thing that happens when you miss 75% of the shots you take and should not be celebrated. The Rockets shot poorly from the foul line on limited attempts going 3-7 (42.9%) and they committed 20 turnovers as a team.

Janelle Reed-Lewis scored 13 points and was the only Rocket to score in double figures. Inma Zanoguera had 8 points and a game high 16 rebounds while going 4-19 from the floor. Andola Dortch played all 40 minutes, went 3-13 from the field, and finished with 8 points and 5 steals. Toledo's freshmen continue to struggle on the road with Sophie Reecher scoring 4 points and grabbing 6 rebounds while the rest saw limited or no playing time at all.

Buffalo's Mackenzie Loesing led all scorers with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Other Bulls in double figures included Alexus Malone with 13 points and 10 boards and Christa Baccas with 10 points and 10 rebounds of her own. To be fair to the Rockets, Buffalo didn't excitedly light the world on fire either with 22 turnovers and a 2-11 (18.2%) mark from the three point line. No one on the Bulls' bench scored a point.

The less we dwell on this game the better. Up next for Toledo is another road game. This time they will be in Kalamazoo to play against Western Michigan on Saturday, January 18th at 2PM.
