Hustle Belt MAC Women's Basketball Players of The Week: Week 14

We see more familiar faces win the West/East POTW honors, but a new face earns our nod for outstanding freshman of the week.

Mid-American Conference Eastern Division Player of The Week

Rachel Tecca, Akron Zips (Forward, Senior)

The Ziippiest of Zips, Akron senior Rachel Tecca's taking home our POTW honors once again. No stranger to the award, Tecca posted identical stats of 23 points and eight rebounds in games against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Tecca's play was big as she led the Zips in scoring during games that were decided by four and 13 points. Tecca and teammate Hanna Luburgh have coupled to be the top scorers in the MAC, no small task when you compete in a conference with the likes of Crystal Bradford. Tecca is also fifth in the conference in field goal percentage at .512. On top of the individual accomplishments, Tecca has helped lead the Zips to an 8-3 record in the MAC and seven consecutive wins.

Akron looks to keep pace in the MAC East as they play at Ball State on Saturday.

Mid-American Conference Western Division Player of The Week

Crystal Bradford, Central Michigan Chippewas (Guard, Junior)

Does it surprise anyone when Crystal Bradford goes off? She appears to put up mind boggling stats night after night. In the Chips' 84-81 overtime victory over Ball State, Bradford went off for 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was her second triple-double of the season. No player in MAC history had ever had two in an entire career. Then, in a 74-63 win at home against Buffalo, Bradford scored 18 points and hauled in 13 rebounds. Bradford ends the weekend at third in scoring, first in rebounding, and third in assists per game. Central Michigan sits at 11-0 in conference play with seven games remaining.

Central Michigan looks to stay undefeated with a Saturday home matchup against Miami.

Mid-American Conference Freshman of The Week

Alexus Malone, Buffalo Bulls (Forward)

Earning MAC Player of The Week honors from Hustle Belt is an honor like no other. This is just common knowledge among MAC fans, am I right? This week, Buffalo's freshman star Alexus Malone posted consecutive solid performance against Ohio and Central Michigan. In the home win over Ohio, Malone put up eight points and grabbed up 16 rebounds. In the Bulls strong showing in their loss to Central Michigan, Malone scored 10 points and picked up 6 rebounds.

The Bulls look to improve their 6-5 conference record with a game against Northern Illinois.
