Mid-American Conference Eastern Division Player of The Week
Alexis Rogers, Bowling Green Falcons (Senior, Forward)
In both of Bowling Green's wins over the past week, Alexis Rogers posted at least 20-point games. 20 points and seven rebounds against Ohio on Thursday and 22 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-59 win over Toledo at home on Sunday. Rogers had particularly solid second-half performances, netting 12 and 16 points against Ohio and Toledo respectively. Rogers leads a team that is second in the MAC with an 8-1 conference record while sitting just a game back of Central Michigan.
Bowling Green has a chance to reach double-digits in the conference win column with games against Western Michigan (Wednesday) and Miami on Sunday.
Mid-American Conference Western Division Player of The Week
Jas'Mine Bracey, Central Michigan Chippewas (Junior, Forward)
As if the MAC needs another Chippewa to emerge as a star, Central Michigan Junior forward Jas'Mine Bracey contributed two of her best games of the season in victories over Ohio and Eastern Michigan. In an 82-67 win at home against Eastern Michigan on Thursday, Bracey scored 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting and pulled down 16 rebounds. Sunday, Bracey shot 8-of-11 from the floor while racking up 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in an 80-63 win at home over Ohio.
Central Michigan looks to continue their undefeated run in the MAC with a road game at Ball State on Thursday and then play at home on Sunday against Buffalo.
Mid-American Conference Freshman of The Week
Cha Sweeney Eastern Michigan Eagles (Freshman, Guard)
Once again, the Eagles' Cha Sweeney is our MAC freshman of the week, thanks to back-to-back stellar performances over the past week. The star freshman helped her team stay in the game against a superior Central Michigan squad on Thursday by scoring 26 points. Sweeney also poured in 24 points and added four steals in a 71-65 loss to Miami on Sunday. Those 25 points per game (and what could be described as an alarming 23 shots per game) show just how much the offense runs through the 5'2 frosh.
The Eagles, now 12-8 and 2-7 in the MAC, look to get back on the right track with the help of Sweeney and fellow freshman Janay Morton as they take on Kent State at home on Thursday and travel to Ohio on Sunday.
