On May 21, Miami RedHawks offensive line commit Colton McKivitz had this to say in an interview with Hustle Belt:
Marshall, WVU, and Miami were my top three ... But campus life, and really just the fit for me differentiated Miami from WVU and Marshall ... Yeah, I'm definitely going there. [My verbal is] solid.
Exactly a month later, we learned what McKivitz meant by "solid" when he switched his commitment from Miami to West Virginia. The flip was originally reported by the West Virginia Metro News.
According to McKivitz's local paper, the Martins Ferry Times-Leader, McKivitz's verbal never really was that solid in the first place, and he'd been having second thoughts almost since day one. A further family visit to West Virginia sealed his decision to become a Mountaineer. McKivitz assures the Times-Leader that "this is official" and his recruiting is "over now."
But if I were Dana Holgorsen, I'd keep an eye out for the McKivitz family making a day trip to Huntington.
