The former Northern Illinois Huskies was selected with the 16th pick in the seventh round by the Kansas City Chiefs. He is the 223rd player taken overall.
Da'Ron Brown led the Huskies in receiving yards the past two seasons. As a senior he led the team in every major receiving category as he recorded 64 catches, 1,003 yards, and six touchdowns. Those numbers led him to be named to the Second Team ALL-MAC.
He also ran for 108 yards in 2014 on just ten carries as he showed his athleticism and versatility. He had a career high nine receptions in the MAC Championship game.
Brown has great hands and can catch just about anything. His athleticism won't be as impressive in the NFL but is more than capable of holding his own.
Seeing as none of the Chiefs wideouts in 2014 catch a touchdown pass it is no wonder that they picked Brown.
This makes it two years in a row for hearing an NIU product's name on draft day. Jimmie Ward was picked in the first round by the 49ers and Ken Bishop was a 7th rounder back in 2014.
