NIU Men's Soccer Announce Spring Schedule

The Huskies have just announced its spring schedule of five games via head coach Eric Luzzi.

Huskies men's soccer head coach Eric Luzzi has announced the 2014 NIU spring schedule, which includes the home games and the annual Governor's Cup held at this spring at Eastern Illinois.

NIU will open up play on Saturday, Feb. 22 as it hosts Northwestern as part of NIU's annual Coaches Clinic. The match is scheduled for noon inside Chessick Practice Center. The Wildcats finished with a record of 10-8-3 last season and fell to Bradley in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

After its opening match, the Huskies will take a month off from competition before playing four consecutive Saturdays with its first game against Olivet Nazarene on March 29 at 6 p.m.

The last home game before NIU hits the road will be against UIC on April 5, the Flames boasted a 16-4 record this past fall.

The Huskies will travel to Madison, Wis for its first away game to face Wisconsin on April 12 at 6 p.m. The Badgers claimed a 14-5-2 record in 2013 and reached the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Notre Dame.

Finally, the Huskies will end its road trip to compete at the Governor's Cup on April 19 at 7 p.m..

NIU will look to retain the Cup after defeating SIU Edwardsville, 3-0 on penalty kicks, last season. The Huskies have lifted the cup in each of the past five spring seasons.
