The Battle for the Bell. A rivalry that dates back to 1905. A fierce contest between Appalachian rivals Ohio and Marshall, separated by a mere 78 miles. Ohio leads the series—which has survived Marshall switching conferences several times, and even switching divisions—32-19-6, and have won three straight. The Ohio Bobcats (1-1, 1-0 MAC) are looking to win their fourth straight in this series for the first time since 1980.
MEanwhile, Marshall, (2-0) is looking to continue its push for an undefeated regular season. The Herd are stacked offensively, and led by fourth-year starter Rakeem Cato. Ohio got the win in Athens last year, thanks in large part to some turnovers from Cato, but the dynamic Marshall quarterback won't likely go down without a fight today. Add that to the fact that this game is in Huntington, where Ohio has won just 11 times on the Herd's home field. It's a fierce rivalry, between bitter rivals, and with Cato's legacy on the line, and a new era of football in Ohio, it's sure to be exciting.
