The RedHawks had enough of losing and announced Sunday morning that third-year head coach Don Treadwell, along with his offensive coordinator John Klacik, have been fired.

The Miami RedHawks football team is off to an awful start this year and it seems that enough was enough. After starting the year 0-5, RedHawks director of athletics David Sayler announced Sunday morning that head coach Treadwell, and offensive coordinator John Klacik, were relieved of their duties effectively immediately.

The news comes less than 24 hours after Miami lost its conference opener to Central Michigan 21-9. It marked the football team's fifth straight loss to start the season, and ninth straight defeat dating back to 2012.

Here's the full statement released by Sayler and the RedHawks' athletic department earlier today:

"I have decided to make a change in our football leadership now in hopes of seeing improved performance for the rest of the season. Miami University takes the interest of our student-athletes seriously and this decision is the result of the past nine months since I’ve been on the job.

"Don is a great man, nobody can disagree with that, but I felt a change was needed immediately in the direction of the program. That direction involves making our program relevant again and restoring pride that should accompany being the all-time winningest program in the MAC."

The 'Hawks are currently the worst team in college football in several statistics. They're currently 122nd in points scored, averaging just 8.8 a game. They're 122nd in total offense with an average of 198 yards per game. They allow an average of 35.6 points-per game (106th) and an average of 506 yards-per-game (506).

Treadwell, a Miami alumnus, was hired in 2011 from Michigan State where he served as the Spartans offensive coordinator for four seasons. He agreed to a five-year deal. In the little over two year's he's been on the job he has compiled an 8-21 record in 29 career games. He had back-to-back 4-8 seasons in his first two years on the job, before starting this year winless.

According to USA Today Miami is paying a decent chuck of change to terminate the head coach's contract less than halfway through it.

"Under the terms of Treadwell's contract, the school will owe him his $300,000 annual base salary and his $100,000 annual media services pay for the remainder of the deal, which runs through Jan. 31, 2016. That would put the school's buyout tab at roughly $900,000, although Treadwell is required to make "reasonable and diligent efforts" to obtain employment that offsets the school's obligation."

Treadwell had been taking heat from RedHawks fans all season for the team's lack of competitiveness and for personnel decisions he's made throughout his time in Oxford, Ohio. Klacik, who was also fired Sunday, was brought on by Treadwell to be the 'Hawks offensive coordinator in 2011 when he took the job.

Klacik is most known for his stint as head coach of D-II Lock Haven, his alma matter. Klacik coached the Eagles for six season prior to leaving for Miami in 2011, and in his tenure he won just 5 games, while overseeing a losing streak that had reached 32 games by the time he resigned. When he left things were so bad at Lock Haven that the school considered actually shutting down the football program. The program lived on, but the streak lasted another 20 games before it was snapped in November of last season.
