WMU inks another elite recruiting class.

Picking up exactly where they left off the last two recruiting cycles, P.J. Fleck, and the Western Michigan coaching staff have once again added an elite group of prospects to the Broncos roster. Signing their national letters of intent on Wednesday, 25 heavily recruited high school standouts rowed the boat, and put ink to paper, closing the door on their recruiting process.

Early enrollees: Butch Hampton, Matt Little, Tristian Pipp

Note: Darece Roberson is still a verbal commit to WMU. He has not officially signed, still plans to attend WMU and join the team as a walk-on.

Defensive standouts

Arguably the strongest class in the Mid-American Conference, there are numerous Western Michigan signees who might become household names on the defensive side of the ball during their time in Kalamazoo. Wanting to add depth at quite a few different positions on the field, Fleck, and crew locked up a solid group of defenders, including a few power five conference targets.

Led by early enrollee Tristian Pipp, a linebacker from Greendale, Wisconsin, and three-star defensive backs Dontre Boyd of Detroit Martin Luther King, and Chippiwas Valley's Stefan Claiborne, WMU showed that even though they might not receive the attention like many other schools, that they can still recruit with the big boys of college football.

Battling Big Ten programs such as Iowa, and Wisconsin for the aforementioned prospects, the chance of seeing early game action, family like setting, and playing for one of the hottest up-and-coming programs in the country was just to much to pass up even with offers on the table from much larger schools across the Midwest.

Offensive standouts

Three-star running back Matt Falcon, a former Michigan commit, who had had his athletic scholarship revoked by the Wolverines, stole the recruiting headlines last November when he announced he would look to prove his doubters wrong and suit up for Western Michigan. Missing most of his last two seasons with knee injuries, Falcon might not have seen the field much as of late, but is a special talent that could help the Broncos in a matter of different ways once his knee is healthy.

Like linebacker Tristen Pipp, early enrollee Matt Little, a three-star rated, dual-threat quarterback, is already on campus, taking classes and will have the opportunity to participate with the Broncos during spring drills in the coming months. With Zach Terrell, and others returning, Little might have to wait for his moment to shine, but with hard work could have every chance to be in the mix to replace Terrell once he graduates.

Overall outlook

Even with decommitments throughout the process, the WMU staff bounced back, and ended its 2016 class off strong. While It's hard to tell how many of the new Broncos might have a first year impact, Western Michigan did a great job securing roster depth on both sides of the ball, especially along the offensive line, and defensive unit.

Coming off an 8-5 season, and a bowl bid, All eyes are on Western Michigan next season. Building the program one year at a time, if the Broncos continue their recent success on not just the field, but the recruiting trail, look for them to be towards the top of the Mid-American Conference for years to come.

The Broncos future gets even brighter.

Western Michigan is definitely rowing the boat towards another top Mid-American Conference recruiting class. Coming into the week with 25 pledges already under their belt, P.J. Fleck and the rest of the WMU staff added their 26th verbal commitment on Tuesday evening.

As first reported by Allen Trieu of Scout.com, under-the-radar athlete Brad Tanner is the latest senior prospect to announce he will suit up for the Broncos. Ending his recruitment just days after receiving his scholarship from WMU during a visit to Kalamazoo, Tanner, a Romeo, Michigan native, decided WMU was the right spot for him over the chances to continue his education and athletic career at Ball State, Davenport, Ferris State, and Northwood University.

A jack-of-all-trades for State Champion Romeo High, Tanner put together a great senior campaign. The 6'2 185-pound standout accounted for over 1,700 all purpose yards and 25 touchdowns. Not just a game changer on offense he also finished the year off with around 25 total tackles and two interceptions for the 13-1 Bulldogs.

WMU picked up their 25th pledge over the weekend.

P.J. Fleck and the WMU coaching staff had a pretty elite weekend. The Western Michigan football squad didn't just pick up their fourth win of the season on Saturday against Miami, they also landed their 25th verbal commitment of the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Ken Aguirre, a 6'2, 290-pound defensive lineman from Joliet Catholic in Joliet, Illinois is the latest prospect to accept a scholarship from Fleck, and crew. While Aguirre flew under-the-radar a bit, he reportedly held an offer from not just Western Michigan, but also schools such as Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Miami, Florida Atlantic, and Wyoming to name a few.

Western Michigan is trying to build a winning attitude around the program. That is something Aguirre should definitely help with. Playing for one of the top teams in Illinois, the newest Bronco is use to suiting up for a contender. After finishing 8-3 last season Ken and his Hilltopper teammates are currently sitting 8-1 on the year and recently won a share of the East Suburban Catholic Conference title.

WMU adds another verbal pledge to the fold.

Just a couple days off from landing a verbal pledge from Rodney Graves Jr. of Detroit Cody High School, PJ Fleck and the Western Michigan Broncos have picked up a commitment from another under-the-radar class of 2016 prospect.

On Tuesday evening, Houston, Texas native and Mayde Creek High senior Jaylen Brown became the 22nd recruit to give Fleck, and the WMU coaching staff a verbal pledge.

Playing both ways on the high school level for Mayde Creek, the 6'2, 205-pound, Brown will make the switch to defense full-time, and suit up at safety when he arrives in Kalamazoo next year.

Like a lot of other Mid-American Conference recruits, Brown didn't receive a large amount of scholarships throughout the process. Before his commitment to Western Michigan, he reportedly held a scholarship offer to suit up for the Miners of UTEP.

The Boat is definitely rowing in Kalamazoo.

P.J. Fleck and the Western Michigan Broncos strangle hold on Mid-American Conference recruiting got tighter over the weekend. Already blessed with one of the top overall classes in the MAC, Fleck, and crew picked up another verbal commitment from a class of 2016 prospect on Sunday evening.

Under the radar recruit Rodney Graves Jr. announced on Twitter that he will continue his education, and football playing days at Western Michigan. Receiving his offer from the WMU staff last week, Graves Jr. chose the Broncos over a scholarship offer from NAIA program Davenport University.

The 6'2, 185-pound Graves Jr. does most of his damage as a wide receiver on the high school level for Detroit's Cody High School. Even though he shines on offense, Western Michigan is bringing Rodney in as an athlete.

With Graves Jr. now in the fold, Western Michigan's class of 2016 is currently sitting at 21 commits.

Get a small glimpse of what Graves Jr. will add to the Broncos roster with these highlights:

Despite being committed to Eastern Michigan, that did not stop directional neighbor Western Michigan from offering defensive end Justice Williams.

This WMU offer puts Williams just one offer(CMU) short from the Directional Michigan university trifecta.

Williams announced the news on his Twitter account Monday afternoon. Back in July, in an interview with Hustle Belt Williams stated that "just like me, EMU is an unfinished product. I could be apart of a group that could turn the program around." He also cited the fact that EMU's campus is just a short 20 minute drive from his house.

It will be interesting to see if over time anything changes in Williams' recruitment seeming as we are still five months away from National Signing Day.
