Hours after a report surfaced that Toledo Rockets head coach Matt Campbell had received the offer of a contract extension that would make him the highest paid coach in the Mid-American Conference, multiple sources say he will leave the MAC and become the next head coach of the Iowa State Cyclones.

Toledo athletic director Mike O'Brien declined to state the numbers associated with the extension, saying in a text message that a "generous" offer had been made by the school.
Last week Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads was fired by the university following a 3-9 overall record and 2-7 effort in conference play. In six season Rhoads amassed 32 wins versus 55 losses and went 16-45 in the Big 12.
Campbell signed a contract extension last season that runs through 2020. His Rockets are 9-2 on the season and are awaiting a bowl bid. Sources say his new contract with Iowa State will be signed in the next 48 hours.
