2015 UMass Football Recruiting: DT Mario Patton Talks Commitment To Minutemen

Things are finally starting to look up for the UMass class of 2015. As first reported by the Maron Musket, Mark Whipple, and the Minutemen received their 10th verbal commitment on Monday.

After recently visiting the campus, Mario Patton, a defensive tackle from Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio is the latest prospect to join the UMass recruiting class.

Selecting the Minutemen over Mid-American Conference foe Toledo, a lot played part in his decision.

"I chose UMass because it was a great academic school, and I am very comfortable with the area. I really connected with the players, and the coaches there. Another reason why I chose them was because I want to get out of Ohio, and have new experiences." The 6'3 290 pound Patton stated to Hustle Belt.

"When I committed I told Coach (Dave) Sollazzo, and Coach (Mark) Whipple. The coaches, and the team accepted me with open arms, and said that they were really excited for me to join their family."

Even though the Minutemen return many of their top linemen next season, it has been a spot the staff has wanted to add depth. Patton makes the second defensive tackle to commit to Whipple, and crew, joining two-star prospect Diasjon Robinson who committed in the spring.
