The Massachusetts Minutemen have been recruiting well in the 2016 cycle, and the success continued Friday with the commitment of 3-star running back Tyler Thompson out of Oakhurst, NJ and Ocean Township High School.

News of Thompson's commitment was first reported by the Maroon Musket:
UMass picked up a commitment from Tyler Thompson, a three-star running back from New Jersey, according to a source: https://t.co/OrSOji9lzF

You can read the article from the Musket on Thompson's commitment here.
Thompson chose the Minutemen over a host of high-profile offers including Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse and others. He was not a player that was linked to UMass over this cycle per the traditional recruiting services, but his pledge to the Minutemen makes an already good Minutemen class even better.
UMass should still have double-digit scholarship offers available for the remainder of the 2016 recruiting cycle, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of their class comes together.
