Charley Molnar ices own kicker, Melvin Gordon scores touchdown two plays later, 17-0 Wisconsin

The football gods frowned upon Charley Molnar in the second quarter of Saturday's game.

The UMass Minutemen managed to stuff the Wisconsin Badgers after they put together a long drive, but all of that was undone when Charley Molnar called a timeout and nullified Blake Lucas' 47-yard field goal. Lucas would miss the attempt that counted and Melvin Gordon made the Minutemen pay with a long touchdown run two plays later.

With 3:33 to play in the first half, Gordon took the ball of the right side of the line, found a hole and went untouched for a 70-yard touchdown run.

Wisconsin has had their way with the Minutemen through the running game in the first half, but nothing had gashed them like this run. I don't think I need to explain the difference between trailing 10-3 and 17-0, but things are starting to go downhill for Coach Molnar's crew.

The run starts at the 1:05 mark of this video.
